Dark beers, live music, crackling bonfires… What more could you ask for?
The Victorian alpine town of Bright is set to come alive this winter, with local brewhouse Bright Brewery hosting Darker Days 2021, a weekend music and beer festival combining two non disparate passions: the craft of brewing and live music.
It’s all about dark evenings, fine beverages, cozy bonfires and excellent music. The beloved Kim Churchill is headlining the bill, joined by Melbourne rock artist Samsaruh, funk group Funk Rabbit, pop-punk trio Since We Kissed, and indie pop-rockers This Way North.

The festival is as much about live music as it is about the art of brewing. Founded in 2005, Bright Brewery celebrates the unique High Country climate of Bright, which is perfectly suited to the growing of hops. A family business employing over 40 local staff, the brewery focuses on sharing in the pristine beauty of the area with visitors, especially over beer.
Accompanying an astounding 35 beers on tap for sampling at the festival, Bright Brewery will host a swathe of fine Victorian producers to join in on the fun. Hailing from the Mornington Peninsula are the folks from Mr Banks Brewing Co, known for their hops-forward, small-batch style of beer making. Collingwood’s Molly Rose will also be getting in on the party. They’re a local brewery known for creating beers for all occasions.
It’s not only about the beer however, with a selection of High Country producers along for the festival – Reed & Co Gin Distillery, Backwoods Whisky Distilling, Billy Button Wines, Alpine Cider and Sixpence Coffee.
Over the course of the weekend, free guided brewery tours will be on offer, as well as the opportunity to get hands-on experience through the ‘Brewer For A Day’ experience, where brewing hopefuls can learn the trade alongside Bright’s very own award-winning head brewer, Reid Stratton.
