Long-running Melbourne skate punks Bodyjar have announced the upcoming release of a new 7” EP. Entitled Terra Firma, the record will feature lead single ‘Burning It Down For Nothing’, available to stream now. Their first release since 2013’s Role Models LP, Terra Firma will be released on Friday October 13 via UNFD. Bodyjar will play with Less Than Jake at The Prince Bandroom on Thursday October 19.

Melbourne garage freak-out punks Mesa Cosa have announced the release of their long-awaited third full-length. Entitled El Es Demons, the record is the band’s first since 2014’s Ya Ya Brouhaha. Pushing the 45-minute limit of acceptable quality on vinyl, the band has explained their philosophy of value and economy that, “They said we couldn’t fit it all on one vinyl, so we lowered the audio quality.” Recorded by Nao Anzai and Stu Mackenzie, the record is due out on Wednesday November 1. The band will launch the record at The Gasometer on Friday November 17.

The biggest Melbourne show on New Year’s Eve has been locked in with Frenzal Rhomb and The Bennies co-headlining the festivities at Max Watt’s. Dubbed ‘The Best New Year’s Eve Party That Ever Existed…. Extreme,’the party will be joined by Adelaide reggae/ska punks Hightime, Melbourne pub-thrashers Cosmic Kahuna, Sydney rockers Antonia and the Lazy Susans, plus between band sets on the decks by DJ Snes Mega and an aftershow performance by the one and only notorious Dedmedics. Tickets are on sale now via OzTix, get on it.

Memphis garage noise-punks NOTS have announced their debut Australian tour. Continuing to tour internationally on the back of their acclaimed 2016 sophomore album Cosmetic on Goner Records, the band will play The Tote on Saturday November 18. Tickets are on sale now via Future Popes.

New Jersey garage punk shredders Screaming Females have released a new single, their first since 2015’s Rose Mountain LP. Entitled ‘Black Moon’, the song continues the band’s established sound of off-the-chart guitar shredding, tight as hell rhythm, and the cryptic and forceful vocals of singer and guitarist extraordinaire Marissa Paternoster. The track is available to be streamed digitally, however the band has made 24 copies of the track available from a record store in their hometown of New Brunswick. If you’re not amongst this band, you don’t know what you’re doing.
