Known for its lush green beer garden, The Flying Duck is set to reopen this September.
Transforming the venue to include an 84-seat open-plan dining room, the team behind the Hobsons Bay Hotel have signed the lease on this Melbourne pub. Blending the lines between pub and restaurant, the venue is being operated by Rustica’s founder and Supernormal’s former head chef. They’re set to re-open their doors to Prahran in spring this year.

Head Chef Ben Pigott of Hobsons Bay Hotel and Supernormal, Michael Conlon of Scott Pickett Group, Tom Bulling of Hobsons Bay Hotel and Drew Gibbs of Rustica. “We have designed a new dining space,” Piggott said in a statement. “Creating a mixture of both a public bar atmosphere at the rear and a more polished restaurant service in the dining room at the front.”

In charge of the menu is the former head chef of celebrated Melbourne restaurant Supernormal. With dishes including Victorian steak, roast duck, rock oysters and tuna sashimi, they’re also offering a range of snacks like freshly shucked oysters and crunchy fried chicken to keep you going throughout the night. They’ve got tried and tested pub favourites, as well – fish and chips, parmas and cheeseburgers. They’re set to open early September 2022, on 67 Bendigo Street, Prahran.
