Humpty, Jemima and Little Ted are heading to the Yarra Ranges with Play School: Come and Play! in tow.
Play School: Come and Play! is an ACMI touring exhibition marking the show’s 60th anniversary, and Yarra Ranges Regional Museum is the first stop on a four-year national tour.
It opens on 14 November and runs until 14 March, with free entry. That puts locals among the first people outside Melbourne’s CBD to check it out.
It’s a hands-on, interactive setup for children, parents, grandparents and carers alike. Visitors can learn how an episode comes together and see what happens behind the scenes of the TV favourite.

There’s a chance to try out being a presenter, camera operator or director, plus play-based activities built around storytelling, music and interactive games.
Visitors can also settle in with a story beside the Rocket Clock and meet some familiar Play School toys and presenters.
The exhibition is designed with kids aged two to five in mind, but it’s also pitched at anyone who grew up watching the show, so parents, grandparents and carers can swap memories while the little ones play.
The museum is also asking the community to help build a local display through a Play School Toy Community Call-Out.
Families are invited to contribute toys with a Play School connection, whether they’ve been handed down through generations, handmade or picked up recently.
The idea is to create a display about the show’s place in Australian childhoods, with grandparents, parents and kids all becoming part of the exhibition’s story. Submission details are available through Yarra Ranges Council.
Play School: Come and Play! is presented by ACMI and the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, with assistance from the Australian Government’s Visions of Australia program and support from major partner Blackmagic Design.
