Terrible song. I quite like it though. This reflects my feelings towards Adam Levine generally; terrible tool, but quite like him for some reason. Written by the evil genius who gave us the chart-topping Move Like Jagger, Stereo Hearts opens with one of those unfortunately catchy phrases that works on me like a good rom com trailer: “My heart’s a stereo, it beats for you so listen close.” (Squealed by the Maroon 5 frontman, it may be a little grating, but if Jens Lekman sang it you’d all be sighing into your Weetbix.) The rest of it, the whole Gym Class Heroes rap bit, is also pretty effective. It’s got Kanye scope and a gold star hook.
