The ensemble will play two sets on the night, spanning disco, psychedelic chicha, surf, exotica and sleazy jazz across a three-and-a-half hour window.
TEK TEK have been together since 2010 and draw their lineup from several Melbourne outfits, with members also found in The Bombay Royale, Vulgargrad, The Cumbia Cosmonauts, Papa Chango, The Sugar Fed Leopards and Johnnie and the Johnnie Johnnies. The group performs entirely original compositions rather than covers.
TEK TEK spent 2025 on a European tour and played WOMADelaide that same year. Their December 2024 album launch at Corner Hotel in Richmond was billed as the band’s final Melbourne show before heading overseas, placing the Quad Club date as their first Melbourne appearance in roughly 18 months.

Their latest record, Dinner at Splenditello’s, features eight tracks including You’re My Maradona, Godfather Surf Waltz and Shut Your Mind & Let’s Dance.
The band’s sound draws on late-night Melbourne pub music, jazz and classical traditions, with sets featuring trumpet, violin, accordion, guitar, organ, drums and bass. TEK TEK cite tropical jungles, 1960s cinema, late-night Balkan weddings and desert rituals as reference points for their original material.
Over 16 years together, the group have performed in Jakarta, the Pilbara, Berlin, New Caledonia, Bangkok and Paris. Tickets for the Quad Club show are available through TryBooking, with the night running from 8pm through to 11:30pm.
