Ganga Giri : Good Voodoo

Tracing all the way back to 1997 with his work as Manic Organic, Good Voodoo is the seventh studio release from Aussie Ganga Giri. A techno-tribal cavalcade of earthen instrumentation and worldly vision, speared directly at the dancefloor, Good Voodoo should get you moving whether you like to stomp around in fields or strut about in heels. It is quite impressive that the thumping tribal percussion and phat bassline grooves peppered throughout the album are largely the product of African drums and didgeridu, warmly pushed through analog production equipment. Ganga Giri seems to predominantly perform at folk & roots festivals around the world, but the tracks on offer with Good Voodoo would not be out of place at any of our summer dance festivals. The album showcases a host of guest vocalists and musicians, and fuses a whole hippie communes worth of musical genres. Peacefully positive, but positively energetic, Good Voodoo is testament to the fact that great dance tunes can also be affirming, meaningful, and organic.
