It's a classic cold weather experience with an artsy Rising Festival twist.
Get ready to twirl, glide and triple salchow to your heart’s content. Following the success of last year’s Rinky Dink, Rising Festival is hosting a pop-up ice skating rink from June 1 to July 8 at Birrarung Marr.
But this isn’t just like any other ice rink – it’s been decked out with a constellation of lights and quirky sculptural delights. They’ll hang above you as you lace up (and try your best not to fall).

On from Tuesday to Thursday from 11am to 10pm and until 11pm on weekends, the rink offers plenty of opportunities to drop by for a skate. Boot hire is included with your ticket price ($22 to $34) as well as super cute kangaroo skating aids for those who are a little unsteady on their feet.
Presented by the City of Melbourne, Rising Festival is Melbourne’s hottest winter arts and culture event. It runs from June 7 to 18 and features a ton of free and ticketed art exhibitions, concerts, dance performances, film screenings, theatre, and immersive experiences.
Another of Rising’s large-scale public events is Night Trade, a free festival centre located at St Paul’s Cathedral. Stop by for DJs and karaoke as well as flame-grilled barbeque, a massive negroni tank, wonderous art installations and many of Rising’s signature curiosities.
