This is a cute, polished lounge rock tune that unravels at a casually hip pace. Really great work from this new Melbourne four-piece, let me say that. But I am distracted by the opening line of their press release: “Having shrugged off the restraints imposed upon them by society, Dirt Farmer formed in March 2010.” No further explanation of what the ‘restraints’ were, by the way, just this delightfully oblique string of words then on to the regular biographical information. The sentence is so weird it’s a little bit magical.
