Running from 5pm to 10pm with free entry, the market has become a beloved ritual for locals and visitors looking to embrace Melbourne’s winter rather than hide from it.
Think crackling fire pits, atmospheric lighting, roving performers and the irresistible scent of global street food drifting through the crisp night air.
This season’s food lineup is stacked with comforting winter weapons. MELTED will be slinging raclette-loaded sandwiches and toasted brie croquettes, while The Soup Factory serves up pumpkin soup, clam chowder and luxurious lobster and king crab options.
Spud Pappi brings loaded baked potatoes with butter chicken and Italian twists, Claw and Bun offers crispy soft shell crab burgers, and Frasta Fried Pasta delivers Roman-inspired crispy pasta cups.
Late-night kebab cravings are covered by Oh My Doner, and sweet tooths can hit up American Doughnut Kitchen’s hot jam doughnuts (with exclusive seasonal dipping sauces) or Mixed Bag’s toasted marshmallows, s’mores and creamy hot chocolates.
For drinks, Campfire Cocktails Bar is firing up Winter Gin & Tonics, Fireside Mojitos and hot spiced mocktails, alongside the ever-popular mulled wine station. Matcha lovers can warm up with MeowMeow Matcha’s creative lattes and famous matchamisu.
Beyond the food, shoppers can browse local makers including A Good Yarn’s handmade winter woollies, vintage finds at Ladybird Clothing, and unique gifts at The Hat Project and Pet Central.
Throughout June, the market introduces Keys to Winter, a series of intimate live piano performances between 6pm and 9pm that add an extra layer of cosy ambience to the night.
More than just a market, the Winter Night Market is peak Melbourne: a place to rug up, gather with friends, eat well, and soak in the city’s unique winter energy.
