Thundamentals : So We Can Remember

thundamentals.jpg

Blue Mountain’s hip hop trio Thundamentals are back at it again as they deliver their fans So We Can Remember, the group’s first album in three years. The Australian group have already released two singles off of the project which have generated quite the buzz for the release of the album.

Smiles Don’t Lie, the album’s lead single, received a #5 position on iTunes Hip Hop Charts while also earning a #32 spot on triple j’s Hottest 100 Countdown. The love song presents the listener with clean, thoughtful lyrics over a smooth beat and a nice chorus to tie it all together. It’s certainly not hard to see why this single has found success on the charts.

Something I Said is the second single released off So We Can Remember and includes beautiful vocals from fellow Blue Mountain musician Thom Crawford. Crawford’s vocals mixed with Thundamentals’ expressive lyrics over a beat of drums, piano and horns create a beautifully-produced song that listeners may soon find themselves moving to.

The album goes through an array of emotional highs and lows, absorbing the listener due to the parallels to real-life situations.

In a musical world that often seems clouded by braggadocios-type hip hop, Thundamentals’ upbeat melodies and lyrics dealing with real-life emotions are refreshing. The group’s funky beats with live instrumentation and smooth lyrics make the album a good listen for fans of any music.
