Discrepancy Records is stocking over 300 exclusive titles for the most unmissable Record Store Day yet

Record Store Day is back, and Discrepancy Records is pulling out all the stops for what's set to be the most significant RSD in the event's history.

With over 300 exclusive releases on the slate this year for Discrepancy Records, it’s a genuinely staggering line-up with more titles, more variety, and more reasons to set that alarm clock early.

Plus owner Paul Kelly expects there to be several hundred more European releases coming in after the event, so you don’t miss out on any of these gems after Saturday. Turn your notifications for Discrepancy on to stay updated on when these will be available. This applies to any titles sold out on the day itself as more stock is expected after the event.

Discrepancy Records: Record Store Day 2026

  • When: Saturday, 18 April, doors open 8am
  • Where: 301 Rossmoyne Avenue, Thornbury 3071
  • Online leftovers: Monday, 20 April from 9am at discrepancyrecords.com.au

There’s been more interest in the 350-plus exclusive releases than in any previous year, with the biggest challenge being securing enough stock to satisfy demand.

Leading the charge are titles from Madonna, Taylor Swift, Pink Floyd, David Bowie, Def Leppard, Spacey Jane, Empire Of The Sun, Jeff Buckley and soundtracks including K-Pop Demon Hunters, but with the largest range of any RSD, Kelly says every genre has been catered for this year.

No matter what genre you’re into, there’s something worth lining up for.

Highlights beyond the headliners include titles from Pixies, the Thompson Twins, Bill Evans, part of a genuinely strong jazz showing this year, Suzi Quatro, and even a few copies of a John Fusciante reissue that Kelly was particularly keen to secure.

As Australia’s largest vinyl retailer, with over two million LPs available on their website across new and used stock, Discrepancy Records knows how to make RSD work.

To give yourself the best shot at leaving with everything on your list, it’s worth adding titles to your online account wishlist ahead of the day. It won’t hold anything for you (first in, best dressed, those are the rules), but it doubles as a handy shopping list when the excitement kicks in and your brain goes blank in front of the racks.

Five points of sale keep queues moving efficiently, and restricted in-store numbers mean browsing is actually enjoyable rather than a full-contact sport. In previous years, the store has seen kilometre-long lines of over 1,000 people snaking around the corner.

The camaraderie of the queue has become something of an RSD tradition in itself. People spend time with like-minded music lovers, and before they know it, they’re inside and the real fun begins. It’s turned into something of RSD Australia folklore: a great time in the queue, then walking out with pretty much everything you came for.

Leftover stock will hit the Discrepancy Records website from 9am, Monday 20 April, though availability is never guaranteed once the doors have opened.
