Yesterday’s news of the lockdown extension, while expected, was crushing for Melburnians. Particularly those within the hospitality scene.

While many pubs and bars have had no choice but to close for the duration of the lockdown, there are a bunch of venues around town that are offering takeaway and delivery beer, wine and cocktails until restrictions lift.

So, support your local and replenish your booze supply at one of these temporary bottleshops.

Neighbourhood Wine

Get a bottle of primo vino delivered to your door from 12pm-9:30pm daily, thanks to Neighbourhood Wine. You can even nab yourself a litre bottle of minimal intervention red or orange wine for just $20 a pop. While you’re at it, put in an order for their pasta. You deserve it for getting through this lockdown.

Bodriggy Brewing Co

From midday ’til 6pm, Wednesday to Sunday, swing by Bodriggy’s lockdown Froff Shop for tinnies and mixed slabs. They’ve got a bunch of brews to try. Get ’em while they’re cold.

Northcote Social Club

BYO growler and fill ‘er up at Northcote Social Club. Or, if you want something extra spesh, you can grab a coffee cup of mulled cider or espresso martini. They’ve got wine by the bottle, too, and a bunch of takeaway pub fare so you can get the full NSC experience from home.

Jamsheed Urban Winery

Treat yourself to a good bottle of wine this lockdown, courtesy of Jamsheed. Stop by the Urban Winery on Thursday or Friday from 3pm-8pm or between 12pm and 6pm on Saturday to pick up a bottle (or several, no judgement).

Cherry Bar

Fancy a rock’n’roll cocktail delivered to your door? Cherry Bar has your back. Order yourself a couple of pre-made Acca-Daiquiris and you may open your door to The Living End’s Chris Cheney who will be making some special deliveries around town across lockdown. Cherry will be delivering within 25km of the CBD on Saturday June 4 and Sunday June 5 from 4pm until 8pm.

Tallboy and Moose

Preston brewery Tallboy and Moose are bringing the beer to you, with same-day local delivery from Wednesday to Sunday (free if you spend over $50). If you’re close by, you can stop by to browse the bottleshop, instead.

The Evelyn Hotel

The Ev’s trusty bottleshop will help get you through the extended lockdown period with their huge selection of beer and wine. Open daily from midday until late.

Edinburgh Castle

While the doors on Edi Castle are closed, their adjoining bottle-o, Local Bottle Store, will be open. Show them some love by stopping in to grab your next bottle of wine or sixer. They’ve got a bunch of moreish drinking snacks, too. Open for pick-up and delivery daily from 12pm until 10pm.

Carlton Brewhouse

Stocked with fresh beers and open daily from 10am until 6pm, Carlton Brewhouse is making sure you don’t go thirsty this lockdown.

Some Velvet Morning

Some Velvet Morning is slinging takeaway pints, cocktails and natural wines until 7pm daily this lockdown. If you pop in during the day, you can grab a coffee and some brunch to go, too.

Goldy’s Tavern

BYO receptacles and fill ’em up with mulled wine, cider and beer at Goldy’s. Swing by after 5pm daily. You also can grab dinner to takeaway while you’re there.

Surly’s Bar

This Friday and Saturday, Surly’s will be pouring takeaway beers and selling tinnies and bottles of wine in their pop-up bottleshop. Head down from 4pm-7pm on Friday and 4:30pm-7pm on Saturday and stock up.

Robert Burns Hotel

Open for delivery and pickup from Tuesday to Friday, Robert Burns has you covered for a pub feed and litre growlers of beer to wash it down with. There’s also wine and cocktails, if that’s more your style.

Great Northern Hotel

Get your growlers and assorted alcoholic goods at Great Northern Hotel’s bottle-o. They’re open daily from 12pm until 9pm.

The Empress Hotel

Find the biggest drinking vessel you’ve got and make your way to The Empress this Friday June 4 to take advantage of their Big Beer Bonanza. They’ll be filling up any lidded containers, no matter the size, for $1 per 100mL of beer from 4-7pm.

Moon Dog Brewing

Stop by Moon Dog Brewing or Moon Dog World to grab a slab of craft beer or seltzer. They’re open daily from 12pm until 6pm.

Hard Rubbish

Hard Rubbish is pouring takeaway beers and cocktails  this Saturday June 5 from 3pm until 8pm. Put on your mask and walking shoes and wander on down. There couldn’t be a better incentive to get some exercise.
