The Surveillance Film Festival takes place in Federation Square on August 6 and includes a double feature of two of Hitchcock’s best spy and surveillance themed films. Grab yourself a blanket for the low, low price of a gold coin donation at the Woofy’s Eye Spy Cart near the Main Stage, as the ever-perceptive panopticon-esque art installation The Eyes watch over you.

With free loaded hot chocolates and eye themed sweets up for grabs, there are two movies on show: North by Northwest (1959) and Rear Window (1954).
A thrilling tale of mistaken identity, North by Northwest follows an advertising executive who becomes unwillingly involved in a complex spy plot. Starring Cary Grant and with an absolutely iconic opening title sequence by the legendary Saul Bass, North by Northwest is a fantastic thriller weaved by the master of suspense.
Starring Grace Kelly and James Stewart, Rear Window is one of the greatest mystery thrillers ever released to the big screen. Based on Cornell Woolrich’s 1942 short story It Had to Be Murder, Hitchcock’s film follows a wheelchair-bound wildlife photographer who spends his days looking out his window at his neighbours – only to witness a potential murder. Intense, suspenseful and grippingly original in its premise and delivery, it’s no wonder that Rear Window is heralded as one of the best films of the 20th Century.
