It’s not every day you get to see an Oscar-nominated score performed by an award-winning full orchestra as well respected as the MSO. And it’s definitely not every day you get to see them perform Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban live in concert either.
The score will be played while the entire film plays on a huge high-definition screen; the concerts will be taking place at Plenary, Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre in SouthWharf. You couldn’t find a more ideal location to explore the evocative motifs depicting mystery, magic, and mischief found in John Williams’ exhilarating soundtrack.
In case you’ve forgotten (shame on you, muggle), The Prisoner of Azkaban is the one where Harry, Ron and Hermione cross the barriers of time, face a werewolf, overcome the threats of soul-sucking Dementors, and change the course of more than one life. It also contains the heart-stopping scene where Harry attempts to ride Buckbeak – which includes the score, Buckbeak’s Flight, which would be unreal to see live. Or even magical, some might say…
Rug up and make your way down to Plenary in November to see the spectacle of the MSO, HP3, and Hermione punching Draco in the face (twice).
