I Built The Sky will perform Promise Me You'll Thrive and The Zenith Rise from start to finish at Howler this October.
I Built The Sky are heading home to Melbourne this October to play two full albums in one sitting.
Behind the project is Melbourne guitarist and composer Rohan Stevenson, who has spent well over a decade turning I Built The Sky into one of the country’s most respected instrumental progressive outfits. Working completely independently, he has racked up more than 70 million streams and built a following that stretches across YouTube, Spotify and social media. His touring has carried him through Europe, the UK and India, sharing stages with acts including Periphery, Monuments, Plini, Intervals, Polyphia and The Dillinger Escape Plan, earning a solid reputation among fans and fellow musicians along the way.

For this homecoming, the band will run through the new record Promise Me You’ll Thrive and fan favourite The Zenith Rise in their entirety, top to bottom. Promise Me You’ll Thrive is the more recent release of the two, while The Zenith Rise remains one of the band’s most-loved records. Stevenson is joined by David Parkes on drums, Toby Peterson-Stewart on bass and Rohan Sharma on keys and synths, in what he rates as the strongest lineup he has had behind these songs. Adelaide’s Keyan opens the night with a set of his own progressive and djent material.
Promise Me You’ll Thrive arrived earlier this year and landed straight away, debuting at number four on the ARIA Australian Albums Chart and reaching number three on the AIR Charts. Over on Bandcamp it topped the instrumental, djent and instrumental metal categories, a clean sweep for a record made without a label behind it. Stevenson was also named Musician of the Month by Australian Musician around the record’s release.
Tickets go on sale from 23 July at 9am AEST through the band’s website. Both Promise Me You’ll Thrive and The Zenith Rise will be played end to end at the one Howler show, with Keyan opening the night.
