General Pants Co’s music label has announced this month’s unsigned acts.
Last year, branching out from the usual Cheap Monday jeans and Wrangler tees, General Pants Co. started up a music label Major Label which tries to give a helping hand to unsigned performers.
Each month Major Label releases three artists’ singles and gives them 100% royalties for their work. This month the label has selected three groups from all over Australia to release their debut single: Camden & The Careless, Misère and Tessa & The Typecast.
Sydney group Camden & The Careless start the month with their indie-pop track Handsome Ransom. Misère, a Brisbane synth-pop group, are second on the line-up. The band have already released their debut EP Natural Feel as well as appearing at Summafieldayze and Parklife festivals. They will be submitting the title track to Major Label. Finally, Tessa & The Typecast will release Painter. The Ballarat based indie five-piece have been likened to the sounds of Regina Spektor and Florence and the Machine.
If they’re lucky these bands could get their big break from Major Label. Past Major Label artist Circle Pit has gone on to perform with the Yeah Yeah Yeahs on their US, UK and Australian tours before singing on with Nirvana’s original label Sub Pop Records.
You can stream these groups’ tracks on the Major Label website this month and buy them from selected online retailers.
