Whether you’re a Lynch fanatic or a newcomer to his work, consider this the ultimate journey through the world of Lynch.

Renowned for his delirious, mind-bending works, many of which have become cult classics since their release, this is a perfect opportunity to experience the films of David Lynch on the big screen at Melbourne’s own Cinema Nova.

Screening across September, favourites such as The Elephant Man and Eraserhead will be shown, as well as Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me, Lost Highway, and Inland Empire.

Keep up with the latest Melbourne film and television news here.

Taking place at one of Melbourne’s favourite theatres, step into the world and works of lauded auteur, David Lynch. Titled Lynchpins, Cinema Nova is dedicated to showing some of the lesser-screened works of the surrealist director.

From reviving the weather report during lockdown to being responsible for Miley Cyrus (according to Billy-Ray Cyrus himself) David Lynch’s talents extend beyond the realm of cinema.

While renowned for his unique and unconventional approach to cinema, his works are often characterised by dreamlike sequences, haunting soundscapes, and unconventional characters.

Throughout his career, Lynch has pushed boundaries through his cinematography, delving into the underbelly of human nature and the subconscious. His work often defies easy interpretation, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in a Lynchian world where reality and the surreal collide.
