A few years ago I went through a stage where I couldn’t get enough floor toms in my ears. Then Sarah Blasko’s The Hammer, from What The Sea Wants, The Sea Shall Have, came along and blew my little mind. It’s still my favourite track of hers. I Awake, the title track from Blasko’s forthcoming fourth LP, is a hurricane of tom action. Nice. Concocting a splendid mix of subtle musical strokes and a payoff courtesy of a Bulgarian symphony orchestra, Blasko continues to impress with bold sonic explorations.
