Rodrigo Y Gabriela: Live In France

Consisting of just two acoustic guitars on stage, their live set feels more energetic than moshing to Rage Against the Machine and is undoubtedly a glimpse at the very pinnacle of rhythmic guitar. More exciting still is the fact that this is the duo’s first utilisation of FX pedals in a live set. If it’s the incredible finger-tapping beat of Santo Domingo, or the Hendrix-esque use of wah-wah in 11:11, or the all out, wild west guitar duel of Hora Zero; the album is a mesmerizing snippet of infallible musicianship.

This is all evidenced in the almost constant whooping, foot stomping and clapping of the clearly crazed French fans. Now something of a guitar culture phenomenon, their cover of Led Zeppelin’s Stairway To Heaven has grossed over 8 million views on YouTube and is now the perpetual subject of aspiring guitarists’ cries of “Dude! Check this out!”
