Reformed post-hardcore innovators At the Drive In have announced the upcoming release of a new EP, following up this year’s comeback album Interalia, their first since 2000’s breakthrough classic Relationship of Command. Entitled Diamante, the release will be the band’s first EP since their criminally overlooked and underrated 1998 Vaya EP. In the band’s typical cryptic fashion, the following release was issued to introduce the new record, “How do you weaponise the insatiable thirst for life among vultures? How do you deprogram the coroner dissecting hiatus? What light beckons you from the sewers of suggestion? Is your instinct extinct? Or does it hide in the flash burn of counterfeit automatons? Five boys with guilty slingshots swaying to the Midwitch Sound. Blinded by the Diamanté.” The three-song EP will be released digitally and on a 10” record on Friday November 24.

Long-running metalcore innovators Zao have announced the upcoming release of a new EP. Following up last year’s The Well Intentioned Virus, the new five track EP entitled Pyrrhic Victory will be released on Friday November 3. The band released the lead single ‘Cutting, Clawing, Never Cutting Through’ to stream now.

Post-punk legends The Scientists have announced the upcoming release of new music, their first output since 1987’s Human Jukebox LP. The band will be releasing a digital only cover of Jacque Dutroncs’ ‘Mini Mini Mini’, plus an original track ‘Perpetual Motion’. Both tracks will be available later this month on Bandcamp. The band is also about to embark on a rare national tour, playing the Corner Hotel on Saturday October 28.

Reformed melodic hardcore legends 88 Fingers Louie have announced the upcoming release of a new 7”, following up their recent comeback album Thank You For Being a Friend, their first release in 19 years. Appropriately reflecting the increasing age of the band, the record is entitled Get Off My Lawn and will feature two new tracks. The record will be available at their appearance at The Fest in Gainesville FL this weekend, with wide release expected soon after.

New Jersey indie-shred punks Screaming Females have announced the upcoming release of their new album, their first since 2015’s Rose Mountain. Entitled All At Once, the record will be a double album (with a deluxe edition containing a third LP of demos) to be released Friday February 23 on Don Giovanni. The deluxe edition will also come with a 7” containing their covers of Taylor Swift’s ‘Shake It Off’and Sheryl Crow’s ‘If It Makes You Happy’, recorded live for the AV Club’s undercover series. The band has released the lead single ‘Glass House’, with the video available to view online now. Screaming Females toured here for the first time in 2016 and absolutely tore it up.

Toronto noise punks Metz have released a short documentary video entitled Making Strange Peace, taken from their recording sessions of their recently released third album Strange Peace. Recorded with legendary engineer Steve Albini, the video takes a close look at the recording and creative process of one of today’s premier noise rock/punk bands in action. Check it out on Youtube.
