A documentary has been announced about Sydney punk innovators Radio Birdman. Entitled Descent into the Maelstrom, the documentary will feature all living band members and rare footage and photos, much of which has never been previously released. Descent into the Maelstrom is currently being shown on the festival circuit with a wide general release expected later this year. The band last released Zeno Beach in 2006.

Adelaide hardcore band Reactions have announced the release of a new LP. Entitled March of Dissolution, the record will be released Friday June 30 on Resist Records. Pre-orders are available from the label now.

Long-running Bay Area punk rockers Rancid have released a video for new track Telegraph Avenue, the first single off their upcoming album Trouble Maker. It’s a decent track in the band’s traditional punk rock sound, though the band has definitely lost a lot of their edge and are clearly playing it safe in recent years. Trouble Maker is due out Friday June 9 on Epitaph and Hellcat Records. The band last released Honor Is All We Know in 2014.

Although already having played Melbourne not even a year ago, post-hardcore legends At the Drive-In have announced their return to the country in support of their comeback album Interalia. Although reception to the new album has been average at best, with the absence of founding member Jim Ward weakening the band’s sound the most. The band will play Festival Hall on Thursday September 28 with support from Le Butcherettes.

Melbourne psych-punk-fuzz-metal favourites Grim Rhythm have announced the upcoming release of their debut album and national tour. After years of playing countless shows and house parties, the riff lords have finally gotten their shit together to put out an actual release. What Do You Know About Rock N Roll is due out Friday June 9 with the band launching it at The Old Bar on Friday June 23.

Melbourne garage-punk rockers Horace Bones have released new single, Stranger Danger. The track is available from the band’s Bandcamp page. They will be launching the single at The Tote on Saturday May 27, before embarking on a debut European tour. Get amongst it, these guys are the real deal.

Canadian post punks Single Mothers have announced the upcoming release of their third full length album. Entitled Our Pleasure, the record is due out Friday June 16 on Dine Alone Records. The band has released lead single Long Distance, available to stream online now. The band last released the Meltdown EP in 2016.

Swedish post-punks INVSN, featuring Refused frontman Dennis Lyxzen, have announced the upcoming release of their fourth full length album. Entitled The Beautiful Stories, the record is due out Friday June 9 on Dine Alone Records.
