Buckle up — Daniel Avery is turning City Recital Hall into a full-blown sonic cathedral this June.
English producer and composer Daniel Avery has spent well over a decade as one of dance music’s most restless and quietly influential figures, and his upcoming Sydney show looks like a proper statement of intent.
Presented by Vivid Sydney, Astral People; he’s heading to City Recital Hall on 11 June to perform material from Tremor, his most recent album, with a full four-piece band in tow.

Tremor is the kind of record that’s hard to pin down in the best possible way; it pulls together euphoric shoegaze, submerged techno, ambient texture and industrial noise into something that feels genuinely and wonderfully cohesive.
A huge cast of collaborators came through during the making of it, including members and alumni from The Kills, Quicksand, Rival Schools, bdrmm and NewDad, as well as yunè pinku and Cecile Believe.
That’s a lot of voices, but the record never feels bloated; if anything, it holds together through a kind of open-door communal energy that Avery has spoken about as central to the whole project.
The live show leans hard into the rock influences that have quietly sat underneath his music for years, and the four-piece band format gives those elements room to breathe in a way a traditional DJ set wouldn’t allow.
Avery first broke through with the left-of-centre techno of his debut Drone Logic and has remained a key name in dance music circles ever since, this feels like the next logical chapter.
Standard tickets are $89.90, and Beat readers can get 20% off when booking two or more — a saving of at least $36.
