After much speculation and delayed announcements, long-running garage punks Dwarves have announced their upcoming Australian tour. Having recently played our shores in 2015, the band is back with a quick run of dates this March and early April. The band will play The Curtin on Friday May 5. In a revealing Facebook post, Dead Kennedys guitarist East Bay Ray has revealed that the band was approached by Riot Fest last year to reunite the band’s original lineup with vocalist Jello Biafra to perform. While East Bay Ray, Klaus Flouride and DH Peligro were positive about the offer, it was reportedly turned down by Biafra. The festival also saw the unlikely reformation of The Misfits with original vocalist Glenn Danzig, who had not played with the band since 1984. Although Biafra has not commented on the offer, East Bay Ray explained in a Facebook post that “Dead Kennedys had a sincere offer to play a reunion show at Riot Fest in Chicago this fall. Jello Biafra turned it down. Klaus Flouride, DH Peligro and I were looking forward to doing it.” Biafra last released White People and the Damage Done with his new band Jello Biafra and the Guantanamo School of Medicine in 2013.
Rolling Stone has debuted a new track from Bad Religion frontman Greg Graffin’s new solo album. Entitled Backroads of My Mind, the track continues Graffin’s exploration of an acoustic folk/Americana style present on his 2006 solo debut Cold as the Clay. New album Millport is due to be released Friday March 10 on Anti Records.
Melbourne alt-fuzz punks TV Haze, featuring members of Camp Cope and A Death in the Family, have announced their second LP Scrap Heap. Due for release on Poison City Records on Wednesday March 8, the album follows up their debut self-titled album released less than a year ago.
New Canberra hardcore band Mental Cavity, featuring members of I Exist and Life and Limb, have released a single from their debut self-titled EP. Entitled Closing In, the track continues in an aggressive metallic hardcore vein similar to the members’ original respective bands, with a ‘90s hardcore edge similar to Intergrity or Merauder. Get amongst it.
Melbourne favourites The Smith Street Band have announced the upcoming release of their fourth full-length album. More Scared Of You Than You Are Of Me was recorded in California with friend and former Bomb The Music Industry frontman Jeff Rosenstock. The album is due to be released on Friday April 7 on the band’s own Pool House Records.
Byron Bay heavy as hell hardcore band Shackles have announced the release of an upcoming 10” Lifeless Paradise. Due out on Friday March 3 on Resist Records, the band has released a preview track entitled Anilingus and Ascension in the Rank. Pre-orders are available now from Resist.
