Cherry Bar owner/booker James Young has announced six of the international acts for CherryRock017. “We’ve got legendary San Francisco garage punks Dwarves. Southern rock/psychobilly from Atlanta’s Nashville Pussy. The incredible female two-piece, Bala, from Spain, who sound like Patti Smith out front of Motorhead. Plus the best rock’n’roll coming from our Indonesian neighbours in Mooner and Kelompok Penerbang Roket (KPR).” There’s also plenty happening from home turf, such as Wollongong’s Totally Unicorn. They’re joined by the sexy psych-blues of Child, lo-fi garage punk care of Amyl & The Sniffers, Mornington Peninsula’s Stiff Richards, and the 2016 Cherry Awards Act of the Year, Zombitches. And that’s only round one. It’s all happening Sunday May 7 from 12pm, with 13 acts across two stages and no clashes. No finer time to take a stroll down AC/DC lane. Early bird tickets are on sale now.
