Simon Gibbs of Tic Toc Tokyo has released a cracking new single under his solo moniker Mountain Static. Warning Song does exactly what he intended, juxtaposing voice and rhythm to create a stirring, evocative track where angular punk meets a kind of wailing world folk aesthetic. It is full of urgency and dark primal forces, like TTT’s best work, but the melody gives Mountain Static heart. Excellent.
