More than 20 new acts added to Splendour In The Grass 2022 lineup

Splendour In The Grass

Splendour In The Grass has announced a bunch of new acts on the 2022 lineup who'll play a variety of pop-up stages and bars across the festival.

There’s only three weeks to go until Splendour in the Grass 2022 and to remind you of the sheer scale of the festival – y’know, in case you live under a rock etc – Splendour today have dropped a bunch of new acts that will be playing small pop-up bar stages across the festival.

As usual, the festival will host an array of exciting watering holes, some of which will feature lineups from some seriously talented bands and DJs. There’s a couple of acts who were already announced on the original Splendour lineup drop, such as Sydney alt-rock outfit The Bouys or American rockers Starcrawler, who’ll be playing intimate shows as part of the newly announced bars lineup. But there’s also some big new name reveals today who weren’t originally on the bill, like Anna Lunoe, Benson, Bella Claxton, Eliza & The Delusionals, Le Shiv and more.

Rainbow Bar

The first Splendour pop-up will represent the LGBTQI+ community; Rainbow Bar, an OTT disco ball and glitter fantasy that will be Spendour’s dance club. The colourful bar will feature programming by Alex Dugan, Sparkle Is Back and Canned Fruit Djs.

This pop-up will include GiRLTHING, an idea born in 2008 that changed Sydney’s LGBTQIA+ scene for the better. Launching as Sydney’s first “indie queer girl social” on Oxford Street every Thursday, GiRLTHING has since frequented every major club in Sydney, not to mention Melbourne, Brisbane, and Perth. It’s safe to say she’s turned into a bit of an institution over the last decade. GiRLTHING creates safe spaces for queer art galleries, underground warehouse parties, lesbian skate competitions, sweaty club nights and more and will take over Rainbow Bar on Friday 22 July, featuring Jacqui Cunningham, Louella Deville, Mowgli May and more.

It will also include POOF DOOF, who’ll be taking over Rainbow Bar on on Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 July with performances from Argonaut, Charlie Villas, Danni Issues, Faggy, Jimi The Kween, Karna Ford, Logan, Milo, Nic Holland, Victoria Mami, The Drag Brunch, The Rupaul Inspired Lip Sync For Your Life.

Temperance Bar

Splendour’s brand-new non-alcohol bar with comfy courtyard and bespoke mocktails carefully curated by expert mixologist Marc Romanin (Chin Chin, Society, Baby, Kisume, Yakimono).

Byron Bay Brewery Bar

Stocked with Byron Bay Premium Lager and food by Light Years, this pop-up will feature performances by Starcrawler, The Buoys, Eliza & The Delusionals, The Gatling Gun, Horsbra Vs Bennis, Le Shiv, Mini Skirt, Nice Biscuit, Rad Dan, Sweat Dreams Djs, Y.O.G.A Cowtech Dj Set.

Smirnoff Seltzer Springs

Smirnoff’s promising Palm Springs vibes by day and Vegas neons by night in a desert-inspired, cacti-filled oasis with live music on the Cabana Stage in the day, including R&B pop artist Adrian Dzvuke. Inside, expect a full DJ lineup featuring Revelry, Club Raiders, Girls On Deck and Hardware Presented By Atom.

Red Bull Unforeseen

Supposedly a hidden venue, Red Bull’s bringing some of the biggest new names on the bill today with sets from Anna Lunoe, Bella Claxton, Benson, Big Skeez, C.Frim, Dameeeela, Denim, Jade Zoe, Latifa Tee, Loods, Nerve, Shantan Wantan Ichiban, Willo.

Food Truck lineup

Just in case anyone cares, there’ll also be tacos from Beatbox Kitchen & Taco Truck from Melbourne Snack King Raph Rashid, scoff a pizza from Sons of Napoli, fill up of fried chicken from Birdman or snag a toastie from Pocket Rockets. There’ll be Filipino BBQ from Hoy Pinoy, Samaras Lebanese, Emmy’s Gozleme + so much more. Scope out 2019’s best in show, Raijin Japanese and Mamacitas Mexican and wash it all down with dessert from Byron Bay Donuts.
