American progressive rock act The Contortionist has released an all new music video exclusively via Billboardmagazine for the track Reimagined. Directed by Erez Bader, it is the first music video from the band’s forthcoming LP Clairvoyant, due out later this year. “Clairvoyant is the product of not only months of writing and recording dozens of song ideas over the last year, but also a definitive creative artifact outlining the artistic confluence of the six members of The Contortionist for our past and future endeavors,” says keyboardist Eric Guenther. “Collectively, we’re feeling proud, apprehensive, but ultimately excited to finally have this record speak for us as a meticulously sculpted voyage into our musical psyche. On album and stage, between the art’s presentation, zealous and even forceful sonic immersion, and interpretable lyrical and visual metaphor, we are attempting to bring the listener deeper into the world and musical language of The Contortionist.”
Max and Iggor Cavalera, who created some of the most influential metal records in music history with Sepultura and inspired the heavy and extreme music scene over decades, are currently hard at work in the studio, recording the fourth album as Cavalera Conspiracy. Set to be released in the back half of 2017 on Napalm Records, the album will be documented by Horns Up Rocks, titled The Conspiracy Diaries. These studio episodes will be released over the coming months and will share an in-depth view behind the scenes of the Conspiracy’s work in the studio.
Sydney’s Dept. Of Gloom have a musical pedigree and backstory that would take hours to dissect. The sum of their collective parts reads like a short history of Australian heavy music, with members coming from bands such as The Candy Harlots, Genitorturers, JERK and Dead Inside The Chrysalis. They bring the old and forge it with the new. They tracked their debut singly My Ruin (Is U) in 24 hours of stolen studio time, with the music video being shot during the same session.
It was mixed and mastered two weeks later and is out now. They’ll make their debut live performance in Sydney next month, and hopefully we’ll see them in Melbourne soon.
Perth metallers Nucleust have recently completed recording their debut full-length album which will be called Terra Cerebral, to be released on Friday July 28 via Rockpit Records. Vocalist Shannon Marston says “We have pushed ourselves to create what we believe is our most creative and diverse song list whilst still maintaining the sound and style that we have developed. In saying that, there will be a lot of unexpected twists and turns throughout the album but I guess that’s what you would expect from us.” The first single to come off the album will be Lullaby Paranoia. The music video for the track will be unveiled in the first week of July.
