Can you believe that it’s already the middle of June? Time sure flies by. It seems like just last week there was a fresh New Slang, and now there’s another one in the works. The monthly all ages gig series has been hitting The Channel hard and the spread for July is a regular ol’ smorgasbord. Saatsuma will be there, as well as some Arbes and Franco Cozza. It’s one of those lineups that might not ever happen again and you know you don’t want to miss out. Head to Arts Centre’s website quick smart because the last New Slang sold out.
Did you know that The Push and the Arts Centre are looking for someone to help Wil Wagner out with a show? The main man from The Smith Street Band needs some killer supports for the August edition of New Slang and guess what? It could be you. If you make music and are aged between 13 and 18 then you might be exactly who The Push and Wil are hunting for. Not only does the lucky winner get to share the stage with a living pillar of contemporary punk with a full 30-minute support set, they also receive a nice performance fee. What an insane opportunity. To enter, head to the Push’s website and put your name in the ring before Friday June 30.
Oh Jean Records will be hosting a fabulous free afternoon show. This Saturday June 17, Baby Blue and Hollie Joyce are shooting out a splintering 7’’ split. To launch the new release they’re bouncing live into Oh Jean from around 3pmand blasting some tunes. It’s even completely free, so you don’t even need to book, you could probably just stand out the front if you wanted.
