Name/Band:

Glasfrosch

Define your genre in five words or less:

“Um, experimental pop/art-rock.”

Someone is walking past as you guys are playing, they get a beer and tell their friend about you… what do they say?

“Hahaha, that never happened.”

How long have you been gigging and writing?

“Glasfrosch kinda started in about 2007, but we’ve only really had a name for about a year. Before that we did lots of shows as Justin Ashworth Band. Having a band name really helps give the music an identity and a place in the world.”

What has been your favourite gig you’ve played to date?

“We tore it up at The Evelyn in April as support for Karen Heath’s single launch, but I love every show we do. I’m just happy to have an audience.”

Which band would you most like to have a battle/showdown with?

“The Katayanagi Twins. AMP VS AMP!”

What inspires or has influenced your music the most?

“Well, to keep the answer simple and in the realm of music, artists that push ideas. Like Björk, Radiohead, Battles, Sigur Ròs, John Zorn, Fantômas, Cornelius; the list could become epic, so let’s leave it there.”

What do you think a band has to do these days to succeed?

“Depends on what you define as ‘success’.”

Why should everyone come and see your band?

“Come if you want to hear something different, honest, and be a part of something new and special. We can’t offer more than that. Also, we need to be able to pay our VJ.”

When are you playing live/releasing your album/EP/single/etc?

“Our debut album, If You Go Far Enough Into The Sky You’ll Come Out Underwater, is out now on Anon Islet Records. We’re launching it at The Evelyn on Sunday June 26.”
