Golly gosh, Strung Out would have to be one of the most enduring punk rock bands to have emerged out of the ‘90s Fat Wreck punk rock roster and still be able to pull off a 25-date Australian tour in 2016. The band has announced an Australian tour for March on the back of their latest Fat Wreck release Transmission. Alpha. Delta. They’re going to bring labelmates Pears with them, and you can see them both at Village Green in Mulgrave (Thursday March 17), Pelly Bar in Frankston (Friday March 18), the Corner Hotel (Saturday March 19), Barwon Club in Geelong (Sunday March 20) and The Loft in Warrnambool (Wednesday March 23). Tickets available from Thursday.
Baltimore’s Turnstile will commence their Aussie tour today with Born Free heading along for the ride. Arrow on Swanston will host on Thursday January 21 with Outright and Free World, or you could head to the overage gig at Northcote Social Club on the Wednesday January 20 with Warbrain and Outsiders Code. Give them a warm welcome on their first ever tour of the country.
Luca Brasi have invited a bunch of mates on tour with them this month. Their Melbourne show, which includes appearances from Endless Heights and Brawlers will now include Self Talk. Some tickets still remain for the Northcote Social Club show on Thursday January 21 but you’ll have to move quickly.
Basement have announced their return to the country. Currently enjoying the spoils of their recent reformation, Basement are awaiting the release of their new album on Friday January 29 and ready to let rip on the road. They will play at Corner Hotel on Sunday May 29 as well as doing an all ages gig on Saturday May 28 at Arrow On Swanston. Tickets are available for purchase now.
The Peep Tempel are about to head back into the studio to record their follow up to 2014’s critically acclaimed masterpiece (no lie, album is still on high rotation over here) Tales. Before they do they’re going to headline the Brunswick Shadow Electric location on Thursday February 18. It’s your last chance to see Carol live for a long time so pencil it in.
Ted Danson With Wolves have crafted a fresh EP, picked a new single from it and scheduled a big old run of tour dates in support this summer. New track Don’t Tell Me What’s Wrong With You, Because I Will Find Out and Tell You are available to stream online and is as catchy as it is ominous in title. See them play in on Friday February 5 at The Old Bar on Saturday February 6 at Wrangler Studios.
Perth metal band Make Them Suffer signed an international deal with one of the biggest heavy labels in the world, Rise Records last week. It’s pretty excellent news for the six-piece who are about to tour Australia, commencing Wednesday January 20. Meanwhile Sydney’s With Confidence have signed to Hopeless Records. In interesting industry news, the former General Manager of Soundwave Touring has joined Destroy All Lines as Head of Touring. He’ll oversee current and upcoming tours from the likes of Between The Buried and Me and Basement. “I am thrilled to be heading up this passionate team of music lovers with a renewed core focus to work alongside our artists to continually develop and nurture their careers within Australia,” O’Brien said of the appointment.
