Comedy Festival big-hitters upgrade their venues due to demand

Comedy Festival - Urzila Carlson
Words by Lucas Radbourne

Melbourne International Comedy Festival stars Becky Lucas, Tom Cashman, Urzila Carlson, Melanie Bracewell and Chris Parker have all upgraded their venues or added additional shows.

While many events are struggling to attract a crowd due to the huge array of options on the table as Melbourne bounds back from COVID shutdowns, the Melbourne International Comedy Festival’s biggest names are bucking the trend.

Blistering sales have seen Becky Lucas, who has had a stellar rise to prominence off the back of several successful television appearances, announce a move for her show So Funny! to The Forum, from her room at the Victoria Hotel for the final week of MICF, April 19-24.

Urzila Carlson has announced two extra shows of It’s Personal as part of her season at the Melbourne Town Hall, on Tuesday April 19 at 6pm, and Saturday April 23 at 4pm. Lastly, Melanie Bracewell has also added an extra show of Ooh La La on Tuesday April 19 at 6pm at The Forum.
