The two-hour showcase will be streamed for one night only this Saturday.
Although this year’s national NAIDOC Week celebrations have been postponed until November 8-15 due COVID-19 restrictions, Arts Centre Melbourne will acknowledge the original July dates in partnership with Victorian NAIDOC, 3KND, VACCHO and the Victorian government with a special concert this Saturday.
Filmed in Hamer Hall, the two-hour showcase brings a huge spread of beloved First Nations artists and performers to the stage, including Archie Roach, Kutcha Edwards, Troy Cassar-Daley, Alice Skye, Djirri Djirri, Lady Lash, Scott Darlow, Mau Power, Allara, One Fire Aboriginal Dance Company, Brent Watkins, Jason Mairu and Jesse Rotumah-Gardiner.
Hosted by comedians Shiralee Hood and Dion Williams, the Vic NAIDOC 2020 Concert will also feature messages from Elders N’arweet Dr Carolyn Briggs AM, Aunty Alice Kolasa, Aunty Pam Pederson and Uncle Shane Clarke.
Celebrating this year’s NAIDOC Week theme “Always Was, Always Will Be”, the concert is a means of coming together to heal through connection, song and dance. Streaming for one night only, the concert will be free to watch on Facebook and YouTube.
