Taiwanese multi-hyphenate Enno Cheng is bringing her Moon Phases 2.0 World Tour to Australia, with Brunswick Ballroom and Lucid hosting her Melbourne stop.
Enno Cheng is not easy to categorise, and that is precisely the point. A singer-songwriter, actor, and published author, she has spent years building a creative practice that moves freely between music, theatre, and literature.
Her discography spans albums including Neptune, Pluto, Dear Uranus, and Mercury Retrograde, alongside theme songs for film and television. On the page, she has written a children’s book, a short story collection, and an essay collection. Across all of it, there is a consistent curiosity and a willingness to push into unfamiliar territory.
That ambition paid off in a big way at the 34th Golden Melody Awards in 2023, where Mercury Retrograde took out both Best Taiwanese Album and Best Taiwanese Female Singer. The same year, her single Golden Yellow won Best Alternative Pop Song at the 14th Golden Indie Music Awards. For context, the Golden Melody Awards are widely considered the most prestigious music prizes in the Mandarin-speaking world.

Her most recent album, Full Moon / New Moon, released in 2025, is her second all-Taiwanese-language record and arguably her boldest yet.
It leans into electronic elements and fast-paced arrangements, threading contemporary production through a distinctly Taiwanese musical identity. It is the kind of record that truly expands what pop music can sound like without making a fuss about it.
Theatre has also been a significant part of her recent years. In 2023 she performed a cross-gender role in a Chinese-language production of Hedwig and the Angry Inch, and in 2024 took on a lead role in Your Song, a stage play drawn from her own family memories. The range is genuinely impressive.
Moon Phases 2.0 arrives in Melbourne at a moment when Enno Cheng is firing on all cylinders creatively. If you have not encountered her work yet, this is a well-timed introduction.
