I have a certain level of cultural cringe when it comes to the Australian music scene, and even the bands I like, I like with caveats about the intractable parochial naffness of the Oz indie sound. But you know…Gosteleradio are a useful reminder of my own curmudgeonly, crap-talking nonsense. Maybe they are the exception and not the rule, but you don’t need many of these bands to make a worthwhile music scene. And we have at least three. Maybe six. Taken from a new self-titled EP, Odyssey is yet another glimmering, golden gem from the dreamy Melbourne three-piece, a light and breezy love song in Beach Boys’ harmony that will instantly transport you to some sun-kissed, palm-dressed idyll where all the girls and beautiful and all the boys are funny. Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous and absolutely world class.
