World Cup Fever arrives at the Melbourne Museum and IMAX

It’s that time again: soccer’s World Cup is back, and the MelbourneMuseum and IMAX are offering you a doozy. Catch Australia’s first big World Cup match on the big screens – ie. the BIGGEST screen – on Saturday 16th of June; there will be food and drink available for purchase, and free entry to see the Socceroos battle it out.

Streaming live from Russia, you’ll be able to sit amongst your fellow football-feverists and see the Aussies take on France from the comfort of the Museum’s main foyer. Or, if you’re only accepting the best view available, tickets are available for purchase to watch the game at IMAX, on the biggest screen in the southern hemisphere – it’s only $20 to see Tim Cahill’s colossal bicycle-kick so close you can see his shoelaces come undone.

The opening match is undeniably a big one; the Aussies are attempting to get through the group stage while simultaneously going head to head with one of this year’s favourites. Will Bert van Marwijk lead us through this time of trial and into the promise land? Will anyone dive further than Alex Rance? How much green and gold can one person wear before it becomes a crime against humanity? It’s hard to say; you’ll just have to rock up to find out.
