The Levi’s Music Prize will award $25,000 across the next three quarters to four BIGSOUND alumni who played over the past five years. Second round entries are open now, with third and fourth rounds opening in following months.
The funding is directed to early to mid-career artists who want to continue their careers internationally, without the stress of financial hardship.
The award, with its total prize pool of $100,000, is the largest annual prize in the Australian music industry.
BIGSOUND Festival, which showcases candidates for the Levi’s Prize, runs for four nights in Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley. It aims to give a platform to emerging Australian artists and has been instrumental in the emergence of musicians such as Flume, Rufus, Courtney Barnett, Remi, Gang of Youths and many more.
The Festival offers an opportunity to meet potential collaborators and learn from some of the most accomplished musicians in the world. Previous speakers include Peter Garrett, Nick Cave and Neil Finn.
