Vaudeville Smash to host wild variety show residency at Spiegel Haus with circus and burlesque

Words by staff writer

Vaudeville Smash'd launches at Spiegel Haus Melbourne next month.

The ultimate Saturday night collision of music, comedy, cabaret and controlled chaos kicks off on 8 November with a five-week residency running through to 6 December. Vaudeville Smash’d takes over the ground floor spiegeltent at 10.15pm each Saturday, smashing together vintage vaudeville flair with disco, funk and unexpected surprises. The electric variety show promises high-octane, no-holds-barred entertainment where anything can and will happen.

Vaudeville Smash, one of Australia’s most electrifying live bands, hosts the series with a rotating lineup of Melbourne’s finest show-stoppers.

Each night features circus aerial acrobats, burlesque queens and the theatre district’s wildest singers alongside the charismatic showmen leading the charge. The format blends vintage entertainment traditions with contemporary energy, creating a variety show built for maximum chaos and controlled mayhem.

Spiegel Haus Melbourne opens on 29 October as the city’s newest two-level entertainment precinct in Chinatown. The venue features a 380-seat Belgian spiegeltent, a 400-seat black box theatre, an open-air activation space and a rooftop dome bar with panoramic city views.

The precinct operates in partnership with the City of Melbourne, running through winter 2026 with a total capacity of 1,000 patrons across multiple venues. Opening night showcases Blanc de Blanc Encore, while Maho Magic Bar takes up rooftop residence from 25 November through 15 February 2026.
