The Uh Oh album gets its Australian airing as Patrick Watson plots three east coast shows this November.
Patrick Watson hasn’t toured Australia in more than a decade, and the Canadian songwriter is finally fixing that this November.
The visit is tied to Uh Oh, the 2025 album Patrick Watson wrote after a vocal cord injury left him unable to sing for a stretch of months. Rather than shelve the songs, he passed them to a cast of guest vocalists, among them Martha Wainwright, Charlotte Cardin, MARO and Charlotte Oleena. What could have derailed the project instead reshaped it, turning a solo record into a shared one, with other singers stepping in to carry material he couldn’t voice himself at the time.

Watson has spent close to two decades moving between cabaret pop, classical and indie rock, favouring loose, shape-shifting arrangements over anything too neat. That restless streak earned him Canada’s Polaris Music Prize in 2007 for Close to Paradise, one of the most prestigious awards a musician can win in the country, and it has since carried his catalogue to rooms and festivals well beyond his native Montreal.
His music has also travelled widely across film and television. The 2010 track Je te laisserai des mots became the first French-language song to pass one billion Spotify streams, a first for a track in French. His compositions have featured in Grey’s Anatomy, Orange Is the New Black and This Is Us, and as a touring act he has steadily gathered new audiences across Europe and North America.
Uh Oh has since brought Watson a Juno nomination for adult alternative album of the year, while House on Fire, his collaboration with Martha Wainwright, landed on the shortlist for the 2026 SOCAN Polaris Song Prize.
