Triple J To Launch Unearthed Radio

Unearthed has boosted the profiles of countless young Australian bands since its inception in 1995, with artists such as Grinspoon, Killing Heidi, and Missy Higgins scoring their big breaks through the program. Unearthed evolved with the times, becoming a more web-centric outlet for musicians to upload their wares, as well as offering up opportunities for unknown acts to score big festival slots. Unearthed High also provided exposure for high school bands across the country, with winners Stonefield going on to do massive thing overseas.

The freshly announced digital radio station continues and expands the Unearthed format, with the 30,000 acts featured on the site now able to have their songs broadcast nationally, 24/7. The station will be accessible through a DAB+ capable radio, or through internet streaming. The focus will be entirely on the music, with a divergence from the traditional presenter-based format.
