There’s only one place in town to go to discover a calendar of epic events this October: The Toff in Town.
October won’t know what hit it after the Toff has had its way with it. This month is setting up to be a big one for level two of Curtain House, with all the favourites plus some newbies.
The mainstays are back to keep the party rolling through October. Rendezvous will be taking over the Toff every Friday night from 11pm, while DJ JNETT and Friends will do so every Saturday. Jazz and Jaffles is, of course, making the rounds each and every Thursday for all your silky jazz and hot jaffle needs.
Keep up with the latest music news, features, festivals, interviews and reviews here.
It’s not just music alighting the Toff’s dance floors this month, though. The band room will also be host to drag performances, a live podcast show and a Fringe Festival performance, as well as night of complete and utter decadence.
As with every month, when you’re in doubt for a night out this October, the Toff in Town has you covered.

Jazz and Jaffles
- Evening News, YJ69, Uncomfortable Science, Jazz is Dead, Steppers, SL Tears

Grab a jaffle, watch some jazz, and let the train carriage booths whisk you away on a silky smooth journey of sweet tunes and warm nostalgia. The Jazz and Jaffles lineup this month is as massive as ever, with Evening News leading the program on October 10 alongside YJ69. Big Cat will then be heading up the following week on October 17 with the Moor Street DJs.
October 24 will see a very special Melbourne International Jazz Festival takeover of Jazz and Jaffles, with cult favourite Uncomfortable Science and Jazz is Dead on the Night Crawl event. Uncomfortable Science is made up of Hiatus Kaiyote’s Paul Bender (bass), Perrin Moss (drums) and Simon Mavin (keys), as well at Brett Williams (keys) and Laneous (whiteboard).
October 31 is getting a spooky spin to the usual Jazz and Jaffles affair as Halloween looms large over the Curtain House. The Toff will be getting a scary makeover, alongside – if the rumours are tru – a potential Halloween-themed jaffle. Steppers and SL Tears will be topping off the night with the kind of jazz that’s scarily good.
