Discolypso

After eight hectic days and nine slamming nights at The Residence it’s just about time to take a breather…but not quite. Red Bull Music Academy present the official closing party for Melbourne Music Week. Music lovers will be transported to an African paradise, hypnotized by the unique sounds of Awesome Tapes From Africa – a zany party-mix created from Brian Shimkovtiz’s collection of cassette music, sourced from all over the diaspora, while the Invisible City Soundsystem serve up a mix of afro-disco, dance floor calypso and deep island soul ballads.  Click here for more information.

Tram Jam
In a one-time-only event, co-presented with MMW, the Red Bull Music Academy is taking over three city trams, booting off the regular Sunday commuters and packing them out with hundreds of music lovers for the ultimate moving music festival. Red Bull Music Academy is converting this trio of trams into three mobile islands of afro-tropical paradise with sweet summertime rhythms to set palm fronds a-waving and coconuts a-shaking. PBS presenter Edd Fisher and RRR presenters Chris Gill and LA Pocock will be steering their passengers on the bespoke musical journey. Click here for more information.

Melbourne, Music + Me

The People’s Garden
Throughout MMW, The Residence will be dishing up gourmet meals produced by some of Melbourne’s best restaurants. The People’s Garden offers a botanical wonderland of food from a posse of Melbourne’s favourite chefs with specialised menus rotating throughout the festival.
