The Push and triple j Unearthed are on the hunt for one Victorian act to join the Push Over lineup.
Any Victorian artist with music sitting on triple j Unearthed can enter, with the winner scoring a place at Push Over – 40 Years of The Push. The all-ages celebration takes over Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne on 21 November as part of the Live at the Gardens series, alongside Bodyjar, Frenzal Rhomb, Killing Heidi, Magic Dirt and Regurgitator.

The Push has spent four decades championing young people and homegrown music, and its 40th sees the headliners loading up on surprises. Each will be joined by a special guest for a one-off collaboration built just for the occasion, with Alex Lahey, Alice Ivy, Baker Boy, members of Public Figures, Ruby Fields and Teenage Joans all pitching in. Every guest shares a personal connection to the charity.
Push Over first ran from 1992 to 2013, earning its stripes as Victoria’s longest-running all-ages festival. For a generation of fans it landed somewhere near a rite of passage, giving under-18s a rare chance to catch local acts live while pointing emerging artists towards crowds their own age.
The Unearthed competition passes that legacy to a fresh name, 40 years on from where The Push started. The chosen act nabs their spot for the same reason Push Over first existed: giving young Australian artists a stage of their own.
