If summer was to sound like anything, you can bet it sounds a whole lot like the Bergy Bandroom.

The weather’s too nice and the music’s too good to think about beginning the new year just yet. Let the January gig guide at Brunswick’s The Bergy Bandroom lead you the way through the thick of red-hot music and balmy nights. Music always seems to sound better when you’ve got summer to soundtrack it all.

The Bergy has a real mix of all kinds of musos lined up for this upcoming month of music. There’s a dash of iconic punk bands (The Borderland), a sprinkle of debut shows (Michael’s Cane), a peppering of rockers playing one last gig before they farewell Oz (Terminal Sleep), plus heaps more.

Lazerlips

Begin 2025 off with a bang in the company of none other than the gothic grunge trio that is Lazerlips. They’re a prolific band that draws in dedicated fans and if you haven’t caught Lazerlips in action yet, the first Friday of the new year is the perfect time to see this eccentric party of punksters.

A new year means new beginnings, and Bushido is back. After an extended hiatus, this trio of heavy rockers has come out of the shadows and are bursting into the Bergy with a shine so bright it looks like they’ll be here for a while. Gearing up for the release of their sophomore record later in 2025, Bushido are leading the charge with three singles already released, hinting at exciting things on the horizon.

Ultravit: Just Friends Tour

Ultravlt are kicking off 2025 with their first show to celebrate their new single, Body Language,”following a busy 2024 supporting acts like Future Static and The Last Martyr. Expect an electrifying live performance packed with raw emotion and intense theatrics, as Ultravlt bring their unique brand of alternative hardcore to the stage.

The Borderland: Return Show

While the Bergy Bandroom is known for platforming a diverse array of up-and-comers and rising rockers, The Borderland are certainly no strangers to a stage. Formed in Naarm’s late-’80s punk scene, the group last performed live in 1990. Now, with new members, new material and new fans, The Borderland are back and bigger than ever before.

Outlaws of the Underground

Jack Harlon & The Dead Crows are gearing up to perform unreleased material from their upcoming album at The Bergy on January 31. The band promises an unpredictable show, with the potential for both epic highs and chaotic lows. They’ll be joined by a lineup of experimental acts, including Beautiful Bedlam, TTTDC and Fabulous Contraption, all presented by Progximity Melbourne.
