Simpatico: Nightshift returns with a fresh format on 15 November, converting the largely unused Metro West shopping centre in Footscray into a temporary nightlife destination.
Running across two stages in the Footscray venue, with headline acts from the UK and New Zealand alongside Melbourne talent, Simpatico: Nightshift offers more than standard club fare. A bootleg karaoke room and art installations fill the space between performances, turning the shopping centre’s corridors into explorable territory for those after something outside the usual weekend options.
UK artists Jonny Rock, Karen Nyame KG and Anu headline the international contingent, with Australian artist Andras joining forces with New Zealand’s Eden Burns. Melbourne representation comes through Moopie, Hannah D performing with suki, Babycino and ex ponto delivering a live set.

Metro West’s unusual layout as a Footscray shopping centre creates natural pockets for different experiences throughout the night. Expect lasers cutting through retail spaces and sound systems where clothing racks once stood. It’s a one-night-only setup before the venue returns to whatever comes next for the complex.
Finding Figaro’s Simpatico has built a reputation for choosing unconventional spaces, and this Footscray iteration continues that approach. Whether drawn by specific artists on the bill or curiosity about how a shopping centre transforms after hours, the event banks on location being half the draw – see you there!
