South London-based producer and DJ Mia Koden is bringing her genre-bending bag of bass to Second Story Studios this March.

Growing up between Ghana and Nigeria with a soundtrack of pan-African rhythms, Koden (real name Sancha Ndeko) found her calling in London’s underground electronic scene. Her journey from studying at uni to becoming one of the UK’s most compelling sound system experimentalists started with a pair of weathered Technics 1210s – and she hasn’t looked back since.

The British-South Sudanese artist has carved out a reputation for masterfully weaving together roots reggae, drum & bass, and dubstep into a signature style that’s caught the attention of bass heads worldwide.

She’ll be supported by Naarm’s own bass music virtuoso Pugilist, who’s taking a rare break from the studio where he’s been crafting releases for prestigious labels like Martyn’s 3024, Al Wootton’s Trule, and ZamZam Recordings. With over 50 vinyl releases under his belt, Pugilist’s sound system-ready selections promise to shake the foundations.

Rounding out the lineup are PBS FM Riddim Yard host Rick Howe and selector extraordinaire Lori, making this inaugural Dream State party a proper celebration of sound system culture. The event marks an exciting collaboration between Modern Hypnosis and Upstairs//Downstairs, with the legendary Heartical HiFi providing the heavyweight sound.

No door sales will be available, grab tickets here.
