The Antipodes Greek Festival is set to transform Melbourne's Lonsdale Street Greek Precinct into a two-day cultural celebration, with organisers announcing new features including a late-night silent disco and celebrity chef demonstrations for its 37th year.
Taking place on February 22-23, the free street party will be headlined by acclaimed Greek singer Rena Morfi, who brings her contemporary sound to Saturday night’s main stage. Sunday’s festivities will feature a return performance from Cretan group Xylourides, back by popular demand.
A significant addition to this year’s program is the festival’s first-ever silent disco, kicking off after 11pm in the Golden Square Open Carpark. Festival-goers can continue dancing into the night with wireless headphones while Melbourne’s leading Greek DJs spin tracks.

Food remains a central focus, with the introduction of celebrity chef cooking demonstrations. Notable local Greek culinary experts, including Bahari’s Phil Vakos, will share their techniques for creating authentic dishes, offering home cooks the chance to learn professional tips firsthand.
The festival’s signature Cocktail Party returns to the Greek Centre’s mezzanine level, offering an exclusive vantage point over the street festivities below, complete with cocktails and canapés. Limited tickets are available for this premium experience.
Traditional attractions continue with the Zorba ‘Till You Drop Competition testing dancers’ endurance, while a carnival atmosphere is guaranteed with rides including a giant Ferris wheel, Music Trap, bungee jumps, and dodgem cars.
More than 70 hours of live entertainment will spread across three stages throughout the weekend, complemented by an extensive selection of Greek cuisine. Festival-goers can enjoy everything from gyros and souvlaki to loukoumades and traditional sweets, alongside Fix beer and ouzo.
The event, organised by the Greek Community of Melbourne, showcases the city’s vibrant multiculturalism while celebrating Greek culture.
Entry to the street festival is free, with the ticketed silent disco and Cocktail Party events requiring separate bookings.
