There’s a sunny day party happening in Footscray this weekend

Finding Figaro and Soothsayer
words by sidonie bird de la coeur

Finding Figaro and Soothsayer have teamed up for a final open air dance event – one last chance to groove under the sky and stars before the long winter months settle in.

This intimate event will take place at the Railway Reserve in Footscray, on Saturday (April 16). With the weather set to be 26 degrees on the day of the party, it might be the last open air party you get to go to before winter takes hold.

Headlining the event is the illustrious Dan Shake – a vinyl DJ who controls the party with an infectious joie-de-vivre on the decks. Spinning joyful jazz, funk, disco and soul, his mixes always offer an explosion of colour, variety and flavour with a keen understanding of how people move – and what keeps them moving. His infectious charm has landed him spots at festivals such as Dimensions, Secretsundaze, Worldwide and Glastonbury.

Australian native Lauren Hanson appears alongside Dan Shake and Anthony Naples, with her unorthodox and quirky approach to crafting dancefloor narratives. Lauren’s boundary breaking approach to music has seen her appear at Dekmantel’s Lente Kabinet, Kala Festival, De School, Salon des Amateurs, Horst Music & Arts Festival and Opium Club.

Opening the party is Colette – a DJ that draws her intricate musical taste from her Cape Town heritage and a lifetime of involvement in Melbourne’s thriving scene. With Colette, expect to be taken on a journey through many musical genres including funk, R&B, dance, hip hop and jazz.

See you under the sun for one last time before we emerge from day-party hibernation, after the winter is over.

Final tickets are on sale now, grab them here.
