Who’s chatting and what role? Andy, I sing and play guitar.

What do you reckon people say you sound like? We sound like a punk band playing rock music on acid.

What do you love about making music? Music is an honest form of expression. Good music transcends all the bullshit. It makes you feel before you can think enough to ruin it, it can convey emotions on a level that other forms of communication can’t. It’s something real in a very superficial world.

What do you hate about the industry? Overall I think that the worst thing about the industry is that it’s basically about money by definition, which means taking that ‘real’ thing and turning it into something superficial and sellable so that some rich arsehole at a corporate label will allow it in the list of 40 songs.

What inspires you? Music transcends all the bullshit. I can hang out with mates, jam some mad tunes, drink a couple of beers or whatever and I don’t have to deal with all that arbitrary bullshit that clings to almost every other facet of modern life.

If you could travel back in time and show one of your musical heroes, who’d you choose? Paul Kelly, time machine not required. I’d be pretty safe betting the first proper song I heard was by Paul – my dad loved him. I used to get all the greatest hits around the house, and Foggy Highway was the only CD we had in our car for a while.
