The Black Eyed Peas have been shaking up the charts since the early 2000s. Originally producing alternative hip-hop, more recently their sound has lent more towards dance-pop, particularly after the addition of Fergie to the group. Their latest album Masters of the Sun featuring ‘BIG LOVE’ dropped on Friday October 12. So before you have a listen for yourselvs, here’s the best from their back catalogue.

‘Don’t Lie’

A huge hit off the worldwide success album Monkey Business, ‘Don’t Lie’ really showcases the change from hip-hop to a more pop influenced sound. However it failed to replicate the success of the album’s lead single ‘Don’t Funk with My Heart’, most likely due to overshadowing of the album’s fan favourite ‘My Humps’.

‘Shut Up’

This song is a classic, as it was always played at high school parties and really hits that nostalgia hard. Despite the repetitive nature of the song, it’s one of the first songs Fergie was on before becoming the fourth member of the group.

‘My Humps’

As mentioned, ‘My Humps’ was a fan favourite and was released as a single after becoming a hit on mainstream radio despite a complete lack of promotion. The song obviously lacks the political context and more family friendly vibe of their more recent dance tracks, but it’s still a catchy party tune.

‘I Gotta Feeling’

Simultaneously holding both the number one and number two spots on the Billboard Hot 100, ‘Boom Boom Pow’ of the same album for 26 weeks in a row and is an all-round great dance track. It always gets people jumping.

‘Where is the Love?’

From their 2003 album Elephunk, this track was the beginning of their extensive record sales. The album topped the charts in 13 countries, and ‘Where is the Love?’ became Britain’s top selling single of the same year. Its lyrics contain political concerns and are often heard as an anthem of love and respect for everyone.

Honourable mentions to ‘BEP Empire’, ‘Don’t Funk with My Heart’, ‘Release’, ‘Pump It’ and ‘Meet Me Halfway’.
